MENTEE & MENTOR AWARDS

Each year, we recognize and award successful participants in our programs, both mentors and mentees who have exemplified the goals and direction of the 100 Black Men.

MENTEE OF THE YEAR –  Nicholas Martin

The 100 Black Men of Charlotte Mentee of the Year is an exemplary standout Mentee that is a leader among his peers.  The Mentee of the Year is a stellar example of an academic achiever.  He leads by example in his commitment to the organization, his attendance and participation in MOY, his personal and public citizenship and he is chiefly admired by members of the 100 BMOC.

IZZY AWARD – Nicholas Martin

Paying tribute to mentee Israel (Izzy) Al-Amir Graves in 2019, the 100 Black Men of Greater Charlotte created the Izzy Strong Award recognizing his bravery and unwavering excellence despite the odds during his battle with Leukemia. In honor of Izzy, this award is presented to a spirited, purpose-driven mentee who uses informed decision-making, perseverance, and determination to overcome adversity with hope and optimism. The mentee selected for this award displays a commitment to achieving the goals established for himself despite challenges that may arise. Finally, the recipient of this award exemplifies outstanding scholarship, discipline, dedication, diligence, resilience and most of all, courage.

MENTOR OF THE YEAR – Patricke Ward

The 100 Black Men of Charlotte Mentor of the Year is an exemplary standout member in good standing that is a leader among his peers.  The Mentor of the Year is a stellar example of a mentor – he leads by example and build the confidence, strength and overall betterment of his Mentee.  He leads by example in his commitment to the organization, his fulfillment of his mission, his attendance and participation in MOY, his personal and public citizenship and he is chiefly admired by members of the 100 BMOC.
